A very special story...

A royal fortification

Fredericia was founded by King Frederik 3 in 1650 as a royal fortification. Fredericia Ramparts, which encircle the town centre, are among the most well-preserved in northern Europe. Take a stroll on the mighty bastions between cannons and old town gates.
Fredericia's history is quite unique with it special royal privileges which included religious freedom long before that became the norm and a remarkable victory at the battle of 6th of July 1849.
